WordPress is open-source software maintained by volunteers. There are many examples of how WordPress has helped people change their lives for the better. In the series “People of WordPress” we will publish these stories. Thirst for knowledge
Fascinated by the way things worked, Pooja was keen on learning from a young age and enjoyed studying. After finishing school, she moved from Banera, a small provincial town, to her uncle’s nearby special lead town to pursue higher education in engineering. Recalling those days, she says, “People from my town were not thrilled with the idea of sending girls to another town for further education. Fortunately, this was not the case for me, as my parents were immensely supportive of me and my interests. They wanted me to believe in myself and pursue my dreams. With their support, I graduated as an electronics and communications engineer.”
Pooja graduated with a degree, but had no idea what to do next, and all the responses to job openings remained unanswered. Then one of her friends suggested that she pay attention to web development. The idea turned out to be interesting, and Pooja began searching for materials for independent study, and then found an unpaid internship as a PHP developer to learn while working side by side with established specialists. Three months later, Pooja got her first job.
Getting Started with WordPress
Before getting acquainted with WordPress, Pooja worked with many CMS until one day she got a small project on WordPress. She recalls, “I found WordPress superior to other platforms I had worked with before. The vast knowledge base made it easy for me to learn.” Very quickly, she figured out how to manage the system, how plugins and themes work, and became interested in learning more about WordPress.
