As with previous years' talks, Matt Mullenweg covered a wide range of topics regarding the past, present, and future of WordPress, with highlights including the growing community , translators , key development milestones for the upcoming WordPress 5.9 release, and the Learn WordPress educational initiative .

In regards to the upcoming release of WordPress, several videos were shown with examples of full site editing, block patterns, advanced image management, and global styling capabilities.

Matt also talked about future phases of the block editor's development towards collaborative publishing and multilingualism, and he also mentioned that everyone can contribute to WordPress in a variety of ways, from creating new features, to testing, teaching others, and promoting WordPress to the community.



He also touched on topics such as the development of the global phone number library network as a whole (Web3) and asset acquisitions (on a number of slides in the presentation).

Following the talk, there was a one-hour Q&A session where Matt answered a number of questions, some of which were prepared in advance and were received from the audience or from participants in the live stream.In our People of WordPress series, we share inspiring stories of how WordPress and its global community are changing people’s lives for the better.
