Traditions that were born from good Christmas marketing

Christmas is just around the corner, a crucial time of year for companies and brands, as consumers spend a lot on lunches and dinners, drinks, clothing, Christmas gifts, events outside the home... we are more sensitive to emotional campaigns... a bit of everything. For all these reasons, Christmas becomes a stellar moment to shine with the best marketing actions.

And, although we know many Christmas traditions that we have already automated, do we know where they originated?

Many of them were born from good Christmas marketing campaigns that knew how to thrive in the market and make the most of these dates.

Furthermore, 2017 has been a very special year as e-strategia has turned 10 , the beginning of a long journey in its digital marketing journey.

Here are some of these cases:

The Roscón de Reyes: the Kings are not Kings without eating Roscón. That's how it is. It has become an inherent tradition of these dates. What you probably didn't know is that eating Roscón de Reyes is a marketing strategy that bakeries have started. But in its origins, Santa Claus was inspired by the figure of a Christian bishop and his appearance had nothing to do with what we know today, in fact, his clothing was GREEN! The change to red was mainly due to the influence of the world of marketing and advertising; and one of the 'star brands' in this field has been and is Coca-Cola, which in 1931 carried out a Christmas advertising campaign around the figure of Santa Claus, to whom it gave the corporate colours: white and red, which have lasted until today.
Lucky grapes: And what about the 'end of year grapes'? The result of one of the best marketing campaigns carried out by their own producers on the occasion of a great harvest. Today this is taken advantage of by many brands that sell grapes with seeds, seedless, jelly beans, caramel, in syrup, without skin...
Champagne for toasting on New Year's Eve: It is undoubtedly the drink that is associated with these holidays. Every year one of the most anticipated advertisements is that of Freixenet, which has positioned itself as the drink for Christmas toasts. Other champagne and cava brands have joined this bandwagon, considering Christmas as the star season for their sales, during which they launch the best marketing campaigns to attract more new customers each year.
Christmas Lottery: This is the most marketing-oriented tradition of all Christmas. Surely everyone remembers the 'bald man of Christmas', the protagonist of the famous advertisements that, nowadays, create real excitement in the advertising sector; with increasingly sophisticated marketing strategies that, year after year, awaken a real fever to try their luck among Spaniards, whether they play regularly or never do so.
